Malapa Human Origins Tour

The Malapa Human Origins Tour is a 4 hour tour led by expert guide Howard Geach. It traverses the 9000 hectare site and examines the pristine core of the Cradle of Humankind. First, we visit the viewpoint (for a geology overview), then on to the sinkhole (death-trap and bone collector). After that it’s off to the famous Gladysvale Cave to see ‘live’ fossils, and then we finish off at Malapa which is an active fossil dig and the second most prolific homonid-producing site on the African continent. A great tour even for children – they love old bones!  All this, plus plenty of game viewing on the wide and wild highveld along the way.

Meet at 08h30 at The Cradle Boutique Hotel for a 09h00 departure. The tour lasts until just before 13h00 and includes an active dig, a famous cave and game viewing all on a 24km circuit. Entrance fees, conservation fees, transport and guiding are all included in this fabulous morning adventure!  Please bring binoculars, mask, warm jacket, hat, walking shoes and sunscreen.

Please note, the price of R900 per person is based on a minimum group size of 4 and a maximum group size of 9.
